Amazing Visions Blog Carnival

[This is a guest post by my friend Damien Riley at Riley Central, who has a delightful writing prompt for you. I’ve asked him to tell you a bit about it, in the hopes that it will inspire you to join his blog carnival.]

*******

disneyWalt Disney had amazing vision, as did many special people throughout history. I am a teacher and writer. Over a year ago, I had a vision of hosting a Blog Carnival that featured amazing visionaries. It’s been steady ever since.

Did you know that Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper when he was young for “lack of creativity?” Did you know the Disney company purchased that very newspaper just a few short years later? This is a sign of a visionary.

I remember growing up in South Orange County and watching a man on a corner with a hand painted sign each week. It always read something odd yet profound such as: “Are you raising your kids? Someone is.” While not quite a “Snow White” production, this man’s art touched me in a profound way. As another “ordinary” example, I remember watching my grandfather on the golf course creating HIS art for hours on end.

The Amazing Vision Blog Carnival is dedicated to blog posts about unique people. You don’t have to write about a Walt Disney or a Ray Kroc, founder of McDonalds, to get your post in. While famous historical figures have been featured, most of the posts are about your average butcher, baker, or candle-stick maker. It’s the ordinary person’s vision that usually takes my breath away.

Shelly was kind enough to let me offer you a writing prompt today. I hope you’ll write something on “amazing vision.”

Write about someone you have know whose life was extraordinary. What can we learn from their life and their amazing vision?

After you’ve written it, you’re invited to come back here and submit your post to the carnival through the links below. If you note in the submission you read about it from This Eclectic Life, you’ll be accepted immediately! Not only is Shelly herself an amazing visionary who I respect and admire, she also has some of the hippest readers around. So what do you say? The carnival is ongoing but the next deadline is April 19, 2009. You can submit any time. As I close, I want to encourage you to believe in your amazing vision.

Through the following links you can browse the carnival archives here or submit your post to the next carnival. I hope to read some of your amazing vision posts soon.

[Damien, thank you! I’m giving some thought to some “unique” individuals I’ve met, and am hoping to join the fray! I still get traffic from the last time I entered, and that was months ago.]
